John is engaged primarily in the areas of trademark litigation, trademark prosecution and brand protection. His experience also includes domain name dispute resolution, unfair competition and copyright matters.
Prior to joining the firm, John pursued a business career within the field of trademark research and brand protection. As General Manager of the Tokyo International Research Department of an international trademark research firm, John worked with major Japanese consumer product companies and law firms to assist with international trademark research and projects. John developed several new trademark research services for the Japanese market and spearheaded the development of TRADEMARKSCAN – Japan, a commercially available Internet database making over 2.5 million Japanese trademark records accessible in English. John is also a former Regional Manager of the Chicago office of Thomson & Thomson, where he worked with consumer product companies and law firms to address their trademark research and protection needs. He has lectured at several law schools on the topic of how to use trademark research to protect and develop trademark rights.
Since joining Fitch Even, John has leveraged his international experience to assist a variety of clients with their global trademark and branding protection strategies. With his extensive background in trademark research, John is also frequently engaged in trademark availability and infringement studies.
Outside of the firm, John spends his time motorcycling, bicycling, studying Japanese and playing music with his children. |
