Dr. Krueger practices intellectual property law with expertise in business strategy, patentability, preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and abroad, infringement and validity analysis, licensing, and confidentiality and collaborative research agreements. Dr. Krueger focuses on intellectual property as it pertains to emerging technologies with a technical emphasis in the areas of chemistry and biotechnology. Dr. Krueger joined the firm in May of 1990.
He is a registered U.S. Patent and Trademark attorney.
Representative Accomplishments:
- Supervised patent attorney in the preparation and prosecution of U.S and foreign patent applications in the areas of food chemistry, agricultural chemistry, pharmaceuticals and polymer chemistry.
- Prepared and prosecuted patent applications for medical devices and negotiated and prepared multimillion dollar license agreements for those devices.
- Acted as temporary in-house patent counsel for international food company.
- Advisor to IIT/Knapp Entrepreneurship Center.
- Adjunct Professor at DePaul University Law School teaching classes in Patent Law, and Advanced Domestic and International Practice, and assisting students in DePaul's Intellectual Property Legal Clinic.
- Co-authored numerous scientific and legal publications including "Intellectual Property in Drug Discovery and Biotechnology", Burger's Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery, 5th Ed., Vol. 1, Chapter No. 3.
- Served as member of the Firm's management committee.
- Supervised Firm's patent docketing function and staff.
- Admitted to the Illinois Bar, Illinois Supreme Court, and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (1993).
Background:
Dr. Krueger received his B.A. in Biology from Trinity Christian College and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Biochemistry from Illinois Institute of Technology. Dr. Krueger attended Chicago-Kent College of Law where he received his law degree.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Krueger spent 10 years as a research scientist in the Research and Development Department of Sandoz Corporation. Dr. Krueger has considerable experience in technical areas related to agricultural biotechnology, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry.
