Tim is a partner in the firm, and guided the firm for several years as its Managing Partner. Tim's practice entails all aspects of intellectual property, with a focus on patent prosecution and opinions concerning patent infringement and patent validity.
He has thirty years of patent experience in a wide variety of disciplines, including chemical, medical device, label, electromechanical and mechanical technologies. Tim's patent experience in chemical technology includes polymers, resins for paint coatings, conversion coatings, catalysts, food chemistry, inorganic chemistry, paper chemistry, and specialty chemicals such as oxidizers. While an undergraduate at Case Institute, Tim received two National Science Foundation Grants for work on the synthesis of organosilicon polymers from silicate minerals.
Tim maintains an active docket of patent prosecution for several of the firm's clients, and is frequently called upon to develop patent policies consistent with a client's business goals and to guide clients through complex prosecutions of original, reissue ex parte reeexamination and inter partes reexamination proceedings. He has also been involved in the firm's litigation matters continuously since 1980. He has experience at the trial and appellate level and has actively participated in the trial of cases involving patents and trade secrets. |
